Creating Pride has officially changed its name to ArtsNOW. The name change represents a shift in the primary focus from the Corporate Arts Program founded in 1992 to being the leader in professional development for educators. Since 2006, ArtsNOW has focused on teacher quality providing the tools for educators to reach their students by teaching across the curriculum through the arts.
ArtsNOW has the full support of the Georgia Department of Education and recognition by a group of national education leaders. Larry Scripp, Executive Director of The Music-in-Education National Consortium (MIENC) stated, “ArtsNOW has the pioneering educators America needs to best serve every public school community in their quest for excellence in and through the arts!” The MIENC has identified two ArtsNOW schools as part of their Teaching and Learning Laboratory network. These schools are open for tours to demonstrate arts integration strategies implemented with students by local faculty in classrooms school-wide. The laboratories are Auburn Elementary School in Barrow County and Hickory Hills Elementary Arts Academy in Marietta City.
As ArtsNOW continues to secure state and national credibility, it recently promoted Pamela Millice to the position of Executive Director. Pamela has 20 years of education consulting and professional development experience and is recognized nationally for a reputation of excellence in education. Pamela joined ArtsNOW in 2005 and has since grown our school revenue by 400%.
About ArtsNOW
ArtsNow is a community-driven professional development initiative that builds the capacity of all educators to use creativity, authentic arts integration and sequential arts education to help students fulfill and exceed Georgia Performance Standards. ArtsNow professional development and resources are developed in collaboration with local art university leaders and school systems in both Metro Atlanta and across Georgia. Training begins with Arts Specialists, Classroom Teachers, and Administrators being empowered, as a team, to build an arts-rich culture in their school.
